No Partner? Not Flexible? You Can Still Start

Flyer resting in folded leaf on the feet of a base

The two things I hear most from people who want to try acroyoga: "I don't have a partner" and "I'm not flexible". Neither one should stop you.

No partner

You don't need to bring one. In regular classes everyone gets matched with a partner, so you can come on your own. Friends, family and even your kids can become partners too. Acroyoga with kids is a great place to start.

Not flexible

Beginner poses don't need flexibility. Bird, Throne and Whale rely on alignment and engagement, not on splits. Flexibility comes later, with practice.

Not strong

Same story. When the base stacks their bones, the ground does the heavy lifting. Read the secret to flying easy to see how.

Start with the 7-day acroyoga challenge and see how far you get in one week.

FAQ

Can I do acroyoga alone?

Acroyoga is a partner practice, but you can come to a class alone and get matched with a partner there.

How flexible do I need to be?

Not at all to start. Foundation poses don't require flexibility, and you build it gradually as you practice.
