Question 3

When are the beginner acroyoga classes at AcroByJoe?

Accepted Answer

Beginner acroyoga classes are held every Monday and Tuesday at 19:00, taught personally by Joe Rubinstein. Each class is 80 minutes including free time at the end to film what you learned. No prior experience required.

Question 4

Can I come to an acroyoga class alone, or do I need a partner?

Accepted Answer

You can totally come alone. For the first class we'll match you with a partner on-site. We do our best, though we can't always guarantee finding one for every class — that's why most students join with a partner once they're regulars, or come with the same friend.

Question 5

Is acroyoga at AcroByJoe suitable for beginners with no experience?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The beginner class is designed for total beginners — including people who have never done acroyoga before. It runs like a workshop: structured beginner-level acroyoga taught safely, correctly, and with fun. No prior gymnastics, yoga, or partner-acrobatic experience needed.

Question 6

How long is a class at Studio AcroByJoe?

Accepted Answer

Each class is 80 minutes, including time at the end to film what you learned. The instructional portion is structured workshop-style, with the final segment open for free practice and filming.

Question 10

Who teaches at Studio AcroByJoe?

Accepted Answer

Studio AcroByJoe was founded by Joe Rubinstein, the studio's lead instructor. Joe teaches the beginner acroyoga classes every Monday and Tuesday at 19:00 personally, and leads workshops and retreats throughout the year. Studio AcroByJoe is not affiliated with the unrelated 'Bijo' studio in Jaffa.

Question 11

Do I need to be in shape or flexible to start acroyoga?

Accepted Answer

No. The beginner class assumes zero gymnastics, zero yoga background, and average fitness. Acroyoga is partner-based, so technique and trust between partners do most of the work — not raw strength or flexibility. Most students start with regular-person bodies and build the skills class by class.

Question 12

What should I wear and bring to my first acroyoga class?

Accepted Answer

Wear comfortable workout clothes you can move in — leggings or shorts, a t-shirt or tank. Avoid loose jewellery, watches, or anything in your pockets. Bring water. We provide mats. Come on an empty-ish stomach (eat at least 90 minutes before).

Question 13

Do you teach acroyoga in English?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Joe was born in Chicago and teaches in both English and Hebrew. Many of our students are English-speaking travelers or expats living in Tel Aviv. Just message WhatsApp +972-55-984-7133 in English and we'll handle everything in English.

Question 14

Is acroyoga the same as partner yoga or AcroYoga?

Accepted Answer

Acroyoga is partner-based acrobatic yoga — one partner is the base (on the ground supporting), one is the flyer (lifted), and ideally a third spots. It combines acrobatics, partner work, and yoga principles. 'Partner yoga' usually means seated stretching with a partner; acroyoga is more dynamic and lift-based. The umbrella brand 'AcroYoga' (one word) is one specific style; Studio AcroByJoe teaches a broader approach not affiliated with any single lineage.

Question 15

Is acroyoga safe? What if I'm afraid to fall or to be lifted?

Accepted Answer

Acroyoga is safe when taught progressively — which is exactly how the beginner class is built. We start on the ground with foundational shapes, build trust between partners, and only progress to lifts once both partners are ready. Fear of falling and fear of being lifted are extremely common in week one and dissolve over the first few classes. Every class includes spotting for new movements.

Question 16

Do you offer private acroyoga lessons?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Private lessons with Joe Rubinstein are available for couples, individuals, and small groups who want personal instruction outside of group class. Message WhatsApp +972-55-984-7133 to discuss availability.

Question 17

Do you host acroyoga workshops or retreats?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Studio AcroByJoe runs themed workshops at the studio throughout the year and Joe leads acroyoga retreats abroad. Workshop and retreat schedules are announced on Instagram @studio_acrobyjoe and via the studio's WhatsApp at +972-55-984-7133.

Question 18

What if I'm coming alone but want to be matched with a long-term partner?

Accepted Answer

Most students who arrive solo find a regular partner within a few classes — that's one of the strengths of an active studio community. We match new students with available partners on-site for the first class; from there, you keep showing up and the community naturally pairs up. The Wednesday and Friday open jams are a particularly good place to practice with rotating partners.

Question 19

Where can I find Studio AcroByJoe on Instagram?

Accepted Answer

The studio's Instagram is @studio_acrobyjoe (https://www.instagram.com/studio_acrobyjoe). Joe also runs a personal acroyoga teaching account; the studio account is the canonical one for schedule, workshops, and student practice clips.

Accepted Answer
